Kapnias Red | PGI Atalanti Dry Wine Cabernet Sauvignon (2021) 750ml | Domaine Hatzimichalis
Kapnias Red 14%alc., Still, Dry Wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, PGI Atalanti - Domaine Hatzimichalis
Kapnias Red Wine
Tasting of the most eloquently smokey Cabernet Sauvignon, our Kapnias Red wine is collected only from the best grapes from the vineyard Zygos (450 meters attitude). With high concentration in flavor and high acidity this wine is also aged for 24 months in French oak barriques, resulting in an elegant, complex, flavorful and full bodied wine. Its ageing potential goes up to 20-30 years making it also a one of a kind choice.
Protected Geographical Indication Atalanti Valley
Type: Red, dry wine
Grape varieties: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Origin: From 3 hectares of the selected single vineyard ‘Zygos’ with an altitude of 350-4000m, an average age of vines 35 years and very low yield (33kg/ha), part of the private owned vineyard of Domaine Hatzimichalis in Atalanti valley.
Vinification: Classic red vinification followed by maturation under controlled temperature, for 24 months in new French oak barriques and for at least 12 months in the bottle.
Alcoholic strength: 14% Vol
Ageing potential: You can enjoy it now or keep it for longer ageing at least 15 years.
Tasting notes: Deep and dense red color. Charming, multidimensional aromatic profile where aromas of ripe black fruits like plums, are combined with hints of cedar wood and sweet spices. The presence of wood is intense but it is counterbalanced completely by the dense fruity character. In the mouth it presents ideal balance as the robust tannins are ‘dressed up’ with the fruit and warmth lines of vanilla and caramel. Firm tannins and a long persistent finish.
Food pairing – Serving temperature: Enjoy it with fine food. The roast lamb is undoubtedly its ideal partner. Try it with roast red meat, game and semi-hard cheeses. Best served at 18 °C.
