The Bordeaux Wine Region

The Bordeaux in southwest France is the world's largest fine wine region. This large region is characterized by the great diversity of high-quality terroirs. The broad range of wines produced in Bordeaux are defined by:

- Τhe soil: Two rivers, the Garonne and the Dordogne, run through the region affecting both the soil and the topography.

- The microclimate: Τhe proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of the rivers moderate the winds and the rain, and lead to variations in climate from one sub-region to another.

- The grape varieties: different grape varieties are cultivated in the various sub-regions. Their blending by the Bordeaux visionary winemakers leads to a broad range of great and delightful wines.
