VSOP MATURE CASK FINISH
VERSATILE / ELEGANT / ICONIC
The Rémy Martin icon crafted for Europe
Originally created in 1927, VSOP evolved into the VSOP Mature Cask Finish in 2012. Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish is the perfect harmony of powerful and elegant aromas.
NOSE : Dominant notes of vanilla thanks to longer aging in French Limousin oak barrels, followed by ripe apricot, baked apple, and an elegant floral note.
TASTE : A perfect harmony between the firm character of ripe fruit and subtle notes of liquorice, offering a great complexity of elegant and powerful aromas.
BODY : Well-balanced, structured, and multi-layered. The roundness and fruity notes are enhanced by a one-year finishing period in small oak casks of over 20 years of age.
FRUITINESS 4/5 ( Aromas coming from the still wine’s fermentation, distillation on the lees and ageing )
SMOOTHNESS 3/5 (Sensation on the mouth giving mellowness, balance and perfect harmony)
OPULENCE 3/5 (Defines the intensity of richness in the cognac’s aromas.)
LENGTH 3/5 (The length of time for which the tastes are expressed after a sip)
Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish is extremely versatile, so you may enjoy it neat, on the rocks, frozen, or in cocktails. We recommend drinking Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish with ginger ale or in a classic cocktail such as the Brandy Crusta or the French Mojito.
Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish is composed of eaux-de-vie coming exclusively from the highest-quality vineyards of Cognac, the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. Such eaux-de-vie offer an exceptional aging potential and are known as Cognac Fine Champagne.
In 1927, Rémy Martin’s Cellar Master André Renaud created the very first VSOP Fine Champagne—a truly visionary and audacious decision. This prestigious appellation would be officially recognized 11 years later as an AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée - a specific growing area protected by French law).
In 2012, Rémy Martin launched a new expression of its iconic VSOP for Europe: Mature Cask Finish is marked by a one-year finishing period in small oak casks of over 20 years of age.
Rémy Martin VSOP Mature Cask Finish won a gold medal at the 2012 Spirits Business Cognac Masters (UK) and a gold medal at the 2013 ISW (Germany).
HOW IS COGNAC MADE
Turning the finest grapes into harmonious cognacs since 1724.
The grape is the heart and soul of cognac. This noble fruit sets this spirit apart from others, giving it exceptional aromas. The secret to the most aromatic grapes lies in the soil in which the vines grow. At Rémy Martin, we only use grapes from the highest-quality growing regions, or crus—the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne. These two crus are characterized by exceptionally chalky soil, which reflects sunlight and ripens the grapes to absolute perfection. The grape varieties used in our cognac are predominantly Ugni Blanc, with a touch of Colombard and Folle Blanche.
